Samantha Calkins
Sam was born and raised in Skagit County. She graduated from B-EHS & SVC before transferring to WWU as a first-generation student. At the young age of nineteen, Sam achieved her BA in Communication Studies, with minors in History and Psychology. She is passionate about accessible education and lifelong learning; thus, she’s an incredible asset to SWAN. She works tirelessly to support SWAN’s mission of providing support and resources to women pursuing academic and professional endeavors.
In her own professional endeavors, Sam is the Regional HR Manager for Silfab Solar, a PV module manufacturer with plants across the US and Canada. From recruitment to development, she enthusiastically supports the employee journey, fostering a thriving, people-first workplace where growth and well-being matter most.
Sam helps business leaders throughout Skagit County to do the same through her role on the Board of Directors for the Skagit-Island Human Resources Management Association. Sam’s care for the Skagit Valley community is apparent in all she does. You’ll find her immersing herself in our community via local chambers, networking organizations, schools, and non-profits. While not working or volunteering, Sam enjoys riding motorcycles, playing tennis, hiking, and spending time with her nieces & and nephews.
